Special Education

Runs IEP meetings and works closely with teachers and administrators to support all programming throughout the district.

Supports and evaluates students who may experience academic or functional difficulties in school.

Provides services in a variety of settings based on student needs. Intensity of service and location of service depends on the severity of the learning differences found via evaluation.

Therapies may focus on speech clarity, understanding or expression of language, voice difficulties, and/or fluency of speech.

Provides services to students who may have social, emotional and/or behavioral concerns that impact their school functioning. Social workers see both general education students and students with special needs.

Services focus on student independence in the areas of fine and gross motor, self-care, and sensory regulation to improve functioning within the school environment.

Works with students in the district with significant vision and/or hearing challenges that require adaptations to the classroom environment.

Provides health services to all students. School Nurses keep health records, disperse medication, assist in emergencies, and prepare health histories for students with special needs.
