Board of Education
The Board of Education may establish committees to assist with the Board's governance function and, in some situations, to comply with the requirements of state law. These committees are known as Board committees and report directly to the Board. Committee members may include both Board members and non-Board members, depending on the purpose of the committee. All Board committee appointments are made by the Chairman of the Board but are subject to Board approval. Board committee meetings must comply with the Open Meetings Act. A Board committee cannot take final action on behalf of the Board, it can only make recommendations to the Board.
